Welcome to the 6th grade at Valleywood Middle School! I am super excited and honored to have the opportunity to be your child’s teacher! I am a Grand Valley State University graduate with teaching experience at both the middle and high school levels. I received my Masters degree from Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan and have hopes of earning a doctorate degree in the future as well. I look forward to bringing new ideas to the team and helping to further the mission and vision of learning within our district.
Math in Focus is the textbook used in grades K-6 in Kentwood. We will have a classroom set of textbooks that will be used at school. If you also want a textbook at home you will have to check one out through the Media Center. The textbook is online as well. You can view the textbook, access links to other websites, look at my weekly calendar for assignments, and view the 6th grade Mathematics curriculum at our team Weebly website at http:Valleywood6.weebly.com. Simply go to the Math heading and click on the subtitles!
Students should have some type of scientific calculator at home to complete certain assignments. We use the TI-34 at school, and it works well. It can be found in most stores and is relatively inexpensive. Students should be prepared to come to class with a pencil, paper, and a set of colored pencils for activities we do in class.
I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning and growing together. I feel fortunate to be a part of such an outstanding staff at Valleywood. Feel free to contact me with any concerns regarding your child’s progress at (616) 538-7670 ext. 34309. You can also e-mail me at school at [email protected].
